Lymm Hockey Club Junior Boys Match Reports

Winnington Park vs Lymm (Junior Boys) 26 February 2011
Another great performance by the boys team which resulted in a second successive victory against a strong and determined opposition. Lymm took the lead in the first half in an open game with chances at both ends and Tom Pyman made a great deflection from a short corner to keep the score at 1-0 at half time. The home side battled well and equalised early in the second half leaving the game well balanced. Lymm’s team work and determination paid off and Matt Pyman added two further goals in the second half to complete his hat trick and ensure victory for Lymm. A number of new players enjoyed their first game for the club and the team played well together, showing great team spirit and playing some good hockey.
Final Score : Winnington Park 1-3 Lymm

Brooklands v Lymm (Junior Boys) 5 February 2011
A fantastic game played in wet and windy conditions between two closely matched sides who competed well. Lymm had many chances in the first half but the Brooklands defence and keeper did well to keep the score at 0-0 at half time. Lymm started brightly after the break and quickly took the lead when Matt Pyman broke through the defence to score the opening goal. Brooklands responded well but Lymm’s defence stood firm and Sam Butler scored Lymm’s second mid way through the half. Both sides passed the ball very well and played some excellent hockey which was enjoyed by both sets of supporters.
Final Score : Brooklands 0-2 Lymm

Lymm v Southport 8 January 2011
A hard game and the play was fast and furious and although in the first half the scoreline showed Lymm were well beaten, we came out in the second half and held up very well indeed and also had a few chances.  It was 0-0 in the second half until 24 minutes so a brilliant performance against a much more experienced and probably older side as well.  This was only our 3rd game – after a long break from playing with the weather.  Well done to all.

Lymm v Winnington Park 24 April 2010 (Pyman)

A sunny day for an historic match for Lymm Hockey Club.  The first ever Junior Boys game !

The team were all ready to go and looked professional and well drilled – if not a little nervous. It was hot and the pitch was big but the lads stood up to the test!  Winnington Park are an established team and would prove to be strong opposition with two or three key players dominating the play and moving the ball around well. However the Lymm defence coped well with the pressure and Dom had the chance to make a few early saves.

Winington_Boys_action_1_webWinnington Park took the lead after around 10 minutes and scored again soon after, but Lymm proved they were up for the match and stunned the visitors with a well worked goal, made by Ben Smith and scored by Matthew Pyman, bringing the score back to 2-1.

As the game progressed Lymm had a very high share of possession and refused to let their heads drop as Winnington scored a few more goals and took advantage of a number of short corners. Lymm took their only short corner well and were unlucky not to score a couple more goals towards the end of the game.

Overall it was a great  game and a fantastic achievement for the lads to be able to field a squad of 17 players with an age range from 10-15 in their first ever match. This team has great potential !
