Welcome to Lymm Hockey Club.

Last season we celebrated the success of our Ladies and Mens 1st & 2nd teams being promoted from their respective divisions and we continue to grow from strength to strength as we reach only our 6th season.

This season our focus is building our junior teams and ensuring again that both mens and ladies first teams are promoted. Even though we have been so successful we promote the diversity of skill in the club ranging from beginners to experienced ex-National League players.

Among our training staff we boast level 3, 2 and 1 hockey coaches. The success of our club has been due to the quality and dedication of our professional coaching staff, both with our players and with locals schools and colleges.

Lymm H.C. is a rapidly growing hockey club and our future relies heavily on our links with local schools, therefore we have a very active junior section and have built formal relationships with local schools and colleges where we run training sessions on the school's behalf. In addition, we have very well attended club training every Wednesday evening during the season.

Lymm H.C. is dedicated to upholding a true sporting yet competitive environment for it's members, to this end we have in place a code of conduct, sport equity and child protection policy for all players, umpires, volunteers and spectators.

If you want to be part of one of the most progressive clubs in the country, then simply email or call one of the club officials, we will be delighted to hear from you

Rest in Peace

Susie joined us in September 08 and was promoted immediately to the first team. She played as a forward, and she was brilliant. Literally. I write the match reports for the first team and looking over them now it’s striking, but not surprising how many times she’s mentioned.

Lightening quick, she not only had an unbelievable amount of stamina, but she was brave, and whether training or in matches, she gave everything. In her two seasons she helped the side to two championships, three 7s cup tournaments, two Cheshire cup tournaments and the quarter-finals of England Hockey’s national mixed competition, scoring fifty two goals along the way. That statistic excludes friendlies but still represents an average of nearly two goals per game, and it was this goal-scoring record and instinct for finishing off a move that earned her the affectionate team nickname Susie ‘the Scab’ Chiverton.

The nickname was entirely ironic, because not only was her skill as a striker second to none, she ended this season as top of the team goal assist table. She was the best kind of team player. Unselfish and hard-working, she made playing with her not only easy, but a pleasure.

But her contribution to the club cannot be measured or summed up by records alone. When a volunteer was needed to umpire a game, Susie stuck her hand up first. When a volunteer was needed to be Baby Spice for Karaoke night, Susie stuck her hand up first. The same comments come up again and again no matter who you ask; she was full of life, she had time for everybody, she could be relied upon to always have a smile on her face.

And she could also be relied upon to always be late turning up for meet times. I will miss that. I will miss playing stupid car games to pass the time on away days, I will miss high-fiving her just before the whistle. Most of all, I will miss passing her the ball.

A teammate, and a friend, Lymm Hockey Club has lost one of its best and brightest. She leaves us with a void that will never be filled. She’ll be mourned, but she will never be forgotten.

Ladies 1st XI vice captain
